Pipin’ Hot is the City of Invercargill Highland Pipe Band’s very successful and popular show that has been enjoyed by a great variety of people over the past 25 years.
Pipin’ Hot was first performed by the City of Invercargill Caledonian Pipe Band in 1996 after senior members of the band took on the challenge to put a blend of rock/Celtic/pipes together into a show.
The Pipin’ Hot concept has remained very popular with the audiences of Southland and the band has also performed their show to audiences in Edinburgh, Nova Scotia and Victoria Island.
The show has developed further as new leaders have taken over and introduced new talent, numbers and blends of music. We are always striving to ensure the show has a good variety of old favorites and new music ensuring audiences experience the best of our talented players.
Always popular with the audience is the drum fanfare performed by the bands drum corp. This not only displays the skill of our drummers but gives them the opportunity to extend beyond the realm of ‘normal’ pipe band drums.
The pipes and drums are supported by some of Southlands top musicians in the Pipin’ Hot backing band and also extremely talented local vocalists, highland dancers and various other instruments.
The band has also produced two Pipin’ Hot CD’s that showcase some of the more popular tunes.
